Mick Title

I know, I know, what the heck does that mean.  Mick’s official name is Seventh Heaven VZTOP Pacific TJ Rolling Stone.  He is owned by Hadley and me, Joan Apuna, Lorraine Rainwater and Cindy Niske.  He is out of Ch Our Dane’s Fury and Ch  VZTOP’s Autumn v Seventh Heaven,  bred by Lorraine Rainwater and Glenn and Cindy Niske.

Mick was such a gorgeous puppy I knew he was going places.  I tried to come up with a name that included all of our kennel names and something that would fit him as a call name.  In hindsight I should’ve stuck with something a lot less confusing.

Mick won the Great Dane National Futurity in 2005 at 4 months old.  He put on quite a show and continued to have all that “attitude” as he made his way up to 170 lbs.  He is a big, strong dog who loves to sit in my lap and lick every bit of make-up off of my face.

Mick was bred to Lorraine Rainwater’s Ch VZTOP’s Stella Deoro in 2007 and produced VZTOP’s Just in the Nick of Time, a lovely bitch who has achieved her championship.  Mick’s first get to finish!

Mick was also bred to Mari Lynn and Deric Davisson’s (Shalako)  Ch Rondomar Shalako Anasazi Dance.  That breeding resulted in two gorgeous puppies, Henry and Ziva.  Henry (Shalako n Tue-J’s Vegas Jackpot at Solara) is owned by Shayne Anderson (Solara) and Mari Lynn and Deric Davisson.  He reminds me a great deal of his Dad.  He took a 4 point major at 6 months old.  That’s the way to maintain the family tradition!  Henry finished at 19 months with 4 major wins!

Mari Lynn and Deric were kind enough to let Hadley, Joan, and I purchase Ziva.  See the link to her page to hear her story.

Last July our friend Colette Hayes asked to breed her lovely black bitch, CH Colra Black Bombshell to Mick.  Shelly is owned by Colra Danes and SanRoque Danes.  Shelly produced 6 lovely puppies; 4 blacks and 2 fawns.

So far, two of the puppies are being groomed for the show ring.  Colras Black Eyed Pea v SanRoque (Fergie) and Colras Sin City Showgirl v Pacific Tue-J’s (SinCy).
Fergie is owned by Colra Danes and SanRoque.  SinCy is owned by Jim and Lynda Jacobs, Joan Apuna, and Tuesday James.  Both of these girls show great show potential

Chance title

Chance was the first male dog that we owned. Our partner, Joan Rouse Apuna, had bred her female (Ch Kai-Danes Which is Witch) to Lorraine Rainwater’s Ch Mr. Rhett Butler of VZTOP. She had a beautiful boy puppy that she wanted to have shown on the mainland. Enter Sue Cates, who introduced Joan to Hadley and I, and a wonderful partnership was born.
Chance was a special dog, unfortunately, we lost him a few years ago, and we still miss him. I always said that Chance had an old soul. He always knew what kind of mood I was in and was there to either play or comfort. There were a few occasions I needed to board him at our vet’s office where he was known and loved. The staff was always amazed because he could get out of any cage. Houdini had nothing on him. He never caused any damage he just didn’t like being confined, so he would let himself out and find a nice comfortable place to lie down.Chance was a very sound dog with fabulous movement. He also loved the show ring - he shot sparks!
We do have frozen semen from Chance and are waiting for just the right female to breed him to.

Humphrey Title

Okay, this is going to take some explaining.  A while back, our daughter Nicole decided she wanted a dog of her own.  She was in college, living at home.  From the outset she made it clear she wanted a small dog, one she could take with her when she “went places”.   So she did some research, located some breeders and, ta-da, we soon had a miniature dachshund living amongst us.

Neither Hadley nor I were real excited about the prospect of a yipper in our household, but Humphrey has won us over.  He is a wonderful companion, very affectionate and holds his own with the big dogs, thank you very much.  It is amazing to watch our gentle giants play with this scrappy little fellow.  Humphrey has also been a great help in socializing our puppies, he goes from being the same size and playing as an equal to standing underneath them, challenging them to try and get him.

Our household is always full of laughter as we watch our little menagerie interact.
