Tue-J’s Great Danes is the kennel name we use (Tuesday and Hadley James). We both had experiences with Great Danes in our youth and both fell in love with the breed. We met and married while living in California where we owned our first Dane, Jamie, a lively merle female.
In 1988 we moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where we acquired our first pure bred Dane, Princess, a brindle female. We joined a local kennel club, took her to a puppy match, won a ribbon, and were hooked. We then followed a path common to so many other Dane owners, slowly acquiring all of the things you need to show a dog. We also turned in my Hondo Civic for a Chevy van, and we hit the road.
In the beginning, our show experiences were less than dazzling, but we were enjoying ourselves. Things improved greatly for the better when Sue Cates, Kai Danes, moved to Las Vegas from Hawaii. Sue had been breeding Great Danes for many years, including dozens of champions. We finally had a mentor who helped us learn more about our wonderful breed and how to be responsible dog owners and breeders.

Through Sue we met Joan Rouse Apuna, Pacific Danes, who has become our good friend and partner and who co-owns our champion dogs.
Obtaining a Great Dane that is nice enough to achieve a championship is not easy. We have been fortunate that breeders Lorraine Rainwater (VZTOP) and Glenn and Cindy Niske (Seventh Heaven) have allowed us to take into our home beautiful puppies they have bred. Many breeders will not take a chance on “newbies” and we are lucky that they trusted us with their dogs.
Through the years we have bred a few litters always looking for another puppy that would be a good representative of the breed. It has been challenging, exhilarating and expensive, but we wouldn’t change a minute of it.
Thank you for visiting our new website. We hope you enjoy reading about our dogs, our friends.
